Going Back to our Roots
As you may or may not know, the Caring Closet (formerly The Caring Clothes Closet) began over ten years ago in our founder’s garage serving children entering foster care. Over the last decade, we have moved multiple times, become a 501c3, changed our name, and broadly expanded our services and programs beyond just youth and foster care. We entered 2023 in a new collaboration with UMFS (United Methodist Family Services) as we relocated to a building on their campus. With this change, we have decided to go back to our “roots” and refocus on serving at-risk and vulnerable youth and their families.
As a result, the Caring Closet will be making changes to who we serve starting April 1st, 2023. At that time, we will refer adult based agencies and adult only clients to other clothing charities in the area. This will allow us to maximize our resources of volunteers and donations, and to better support and grow in serving the youth in our community. However, we will continue to serve adults who are referred to us along with children who are in their household.
For your convenience, if you click on the Resource List button, you will see a list of other clothing resources in the area who may be able to serve your adult only clients. We appreciate your understanding as we make this change to better meet our goal of serving at-risk and vulnerable youth and their families.
